1 Identify your stressors
The first step to managing stress is to identify what triggers it. Is it a specific project, task, client, or colleague? Is it a lack of resources, support, or feedback? Is it a personal issue, such as family, finances, or health? Once you know what causes you stress, you can try to avoid, reduce, or change it. For example, you can delegate, prioritize, or break down your work into smaller steps. You can also communicate your needs, expectations, and boundaries to others. You can seek help from your manager, mentor, or peers if you feel overwhelmed or stuck.

2 Practice self-care
The second step to managing stress is to take care of yourself. Stress can drain your energy, mood, and motivation, so you need to replenish them regularly. You can do this by eating well, sleeping enough, exercising, and relaxing. You can also find hobbies, activities, or interests that make you happy and fulfilled. For example, you can read, write, paint, play music, or meditate. You can also spend time with your friends, family, or pets. These things can help you relieve stress, boost your mood, and improve your well-being.

4 Set goals and celebrate achievements
The fourth step to managing stress is to set goals and celebrate achievements. Goals can help you focus, plan, and measure your progress. They can also motivate you to overcome obstacles and pursue your vision. You can set SMART goals, which are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. You can also break them into short-term and long-term goals, and track them regularly. Celebrating achievements can help you recognize your efforts, results, and growth. It can also help you reward yourself, appreciate yourself, and inspire yourself. You can celebrate achievements by sharing them with others, giving yourself a treat, or taking a break.

Working in FinTech is extremely demanding and fast paced, and there are times where even more is demanded of us. It is important to manage workload to have clear plans and communication channels to raise issues and blockers. But equally important on the goals setting side, at this time is when is most important to focus on your health - eg sleep well, eat well, exercise. This will ensure you can continue being at your high performance mode at work - simple, but requires discipline and "training" over the years. When I first got started in FinTech I had overall healthy habits, but when in crunch time, they all went away and prioritized work. Now I ensure I stick to my healthy habits like meal prep in advance of crunch time :)

5 Seek support and connection
The fifth step to managing stress is to seek support and connection. You don't have to deal with stress alone. You can reach out to others who can help you cope, such as your colleagues, manager, mentor, or coach. You can also join online or offline communities, networks, or groups that share your interests, goals, or challenges. You can also seek professional help, such as counseling, therapy, or coaching, if you feel overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious. Seeking support and connection can help you feel heard, understood, and valued. It can also help you learn from others, exchange ideas, and collaborate.

6 Develop a positive mindset
The sixth step to managing stress is to develop a positive mindset. Stress can affect how you think, feel, and act, so you need to challenge and change your negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You can do this by practicing gratitude, optimism, and resilience. You can also use affirmations, visualization, or mindfulness to boost your self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-control. Developing a positive mindset can help you cope with stress, overcome adversity, and achieve success. It can also help you enjoy your work, your life, and your fintech career.
