Who is the CEO of Stüssy?
David Sinatra is the CEO of Stussy.
Stüssy (/ˈstuːsi/) is an American privately held fashion house founded in the early 1980s by Shawn Stussy.
The golden age of the Californian brand in the 90s
Paradoxically, this success triggered a phase of questioning for Shawn Stussy, who decided to leave the company in 1996 for family reasons on the one hand, but also because he could not stand the rigour imposed by the management of such a large company.
Son of co-founder, Frank Sinatra, Jr., David Sinatra inherited a streetwear empire as the current chief executive officer of Stussy.
The young Southern Californian used a broad tipped marker to draw it on the surfboards. There's no other meaning behind the emblem apart from the obvious one – it was the surname of the company founder.
While the meaning behind the name Stüssy is no deeper than the obvious family surname, it is Shawn Stüssy's famous signature that has become the John Hanco*ck of streetwear. After getting a job shaping surfboards at the age of 15, Shawn spent years perfecting the craft before he began to handmake boards at 24.
Collaborations with Stüssy, Alyx and others have elevated the hype factor, cementing the label's status as a new luxury streetwear tastemaker.
Fast forward almost 40 years, and Stüssy is now regarded as one of the most legendary clothing brands in history. An amalgamation of surfwear and streetwear, every collection is also infused with a bit of punk for an archaic vibe that A-listers such as Tyler, the Creator just love.
The Start Of The Stüssy Label
As 1984 comes along, Shawn Stussy went into partnership with accountant Frank Sinatra Jr. (not related to the singer) on a new apparel line using Stussy's name. The brand was the first to make caps marked with branding for fashion, not sports teams.
Why was Frank Sinatra buried with 10 dimes?
The kidnappers demanded that all communication be conducted by payphone. During these conversations, Frank Sr. became concerned that he would not have enough coins, which prompted him to carry 10 dimes with him at all times for the rest of his life; he was even buried with 10 dimes in his pocket.
As for Frank's plot, he's buried next to his parents, his uncle, and his best friend Jilly Rizzo. It's not unusual to see fresh flowers, an American Flag, or a bottle of scotch sitting atop Frank's gravestone.
Bon Jovi is also a blood relative to the late great singer Frank Sinatra, who was Bon Jovi's great uncle on his father's side, according to a May 1988 issue of Spin Magazine (page 22). Bon Jovi has two brothers, Anthony and Matthew. Bon Jovi has four children, and is married to Dorothea Hurley (1989-present).
Shawn's departure and upswing after the crisis
In 1996, the enormous hype became too much for Shawn Stussy and he left the company to spend more time with his family. The worst years for the brand subsequently follow, as later CEO David Sinatra, the son of Frank Sinatra Jr.
They call it “ball of destiny” and it symbolizes those who never give up, in the urban language it represents the last man left standing.
It was at that time that the stylized logo of the two intertwined S's, designed and created by Shawn, was born, mimicking the Chanel logo with the two interconnected C's. The brand's founder replaced the two Cs with his initials, two Ss in fact, creating a new historical logo for the brand.
Origins in Japan
Initially, the brand was going to be registered as a shortened contraction of "unique clothing". However, in 1988, during administration work in Hong Kong for registering the brand, the "C" in the contracted name was misread as "Q".

In terms of their fresh-out-of-the-box fit, Stüssy shirts and T-shirts are roomy, wide and true to size. However, it's been said that Stüssy tops shrink after a wash or two, which prompts returning customers to opt for a size above their regular size.
