How to wait for God's best?
Wait quietly — “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, because my hope is in him” (Psalm 62:5 NLT). “Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act.” What does God want you to do while you're waiting on an answer to your prayer? Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act” (NLT). God wants you to wait patiently for him to answer your prayer.
Pray with faith
The New Testament teaches, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God … and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith” (James 1:5–6). Faith is a belief in things you can't yet see (see Hebrews 11:1). If you pray and sincerely believe that God will answer you, He will.
What does it mean to wait upon the Lord? In the scriptures, the word wait means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. To hope and trust in the Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end.
How Long Do I Wait On God? Wait as long as it takes. God is going to do what He wants to do, no matter what. In Isaiah 46:10 God says: “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.
“For God alone my soul waits in silence . . . my hope is from him” (Psalm 62:1, 5). If we lean on him while we wait, God will give us the grace to wait and to listen carefully as we pray, go to trusted Christ-followers for encouragement, and keep opening his word and asking him to help us hear him.
Micah 6:8 is a clear, crisp, and simple summary of what God expects from you and me. These three things that matter so much to God are the three things God wants to see in us: justice, kindness, and humility. To act justly is to treat people fairly and respectfully.
God works while we wait. Even when you can't see what He is doing, God is always orchestrating the events of Heaven and earth to accomplish His purposes for your life. Trust in His unfailing love — love that moved Him to send a Savior from heaven to restore and rescue you.
Through the scriptures, we are taught that God will always hear our prayers and will answer them if we address Him with faith and real intent. In our hearts we will feel the confirmation that He does hear us, a feeling of peace and calm. We can also feel that everything will be fine when we follow the Father's will.
When God won't answer your prayer?
Spend time in prayer and meditation, asking him for wisdom and understanding. Remember that God's ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and he may have a different plan or timing for your life. Trust God and remember that he knows what's best for you, even when you can't see it.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
As I wait, help me to remember and dwell on the salvation you've provided for me through Christ. Help me to remember that the same grace that saved me at the cross is the same grace that sustains me today. And that same grace is at work in me even now, shaping me into the image of your Son.
God's timing is not based on our desires. Therefore, our heart must remain focused on him. We must listen for God's voice and follow his will. When we do, we demonstrate a trust that can lead to spiritual victory.
One of the clearest signs that God is moving you is if He starts to speak to you directly through His Word or other people. If you feel like God is consistently speaking to you about a particular thing, it's likely that He is trying to guide you in that direction.
If you haven't already, pray about it. If you're still not receiving an answer, then wait and be faithful where you are. God is strategic; nothing He calls us to do is without a purpose. If you're going to trust Him with your life then you have to trust His timeline.
This conflicting advice reflects the importance of situation—there are times when it is best to act and times when it is best to wait. Timing may indeed be everything. If so, achieving optimal outcomes hinges on knowing when to wait and when to act by identifying the situational factors that cue optimal behavior.
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2). Another temptation we face when God does not seem to be answering our prayers is to stop praying, stop expecting him to act, while giving way to a spirit of cynicism, rather than thanking God for who he is and all he has done for us.
Please relax and be at peace. The Lord (and Mary, too) hears all our prayers, including the silent ones. In fact, the Bible speaks directly to that.
Sometimes the actual word 'waiting' or the phrase 'waiting on God' or 'waiting upon God' is used in a scriptural passage. The truth is Waiting is one of the hardest things in our walk with Christ. Yet the bible is clear, just because you are waiting on your breakthrough, it does not mean that you are doing nothing.
When God asks you to give up something?
The same God that loved and cared for Abraham loves and cares for us. When God asks us to give something up to Him, it's not because He wants our stuff. It's because He wants to show us that He is good and able to take care of us.
Prayer is the best way to give your anxieties to God and to exercise and demonstrate real faith in Him. Therefore, to eliminate worry and receive peace, ask God for help, and as the Scripture says, do it with a grateful heart.
A large part of doing what God is calling us to do is to love our neighbors (Luke 10:27), and in keeping with this love, we must tell them about the gospel of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15).
To love the Lord is the most important thing that God asks of us. The sum and the substance of everything that God has said is simply to love Him. This has been and will continue to be the central issue of life. The heart of the matter is always the matter of the heart.
Micah 6:8, the "Micah Mandate," gives a balanced answer to today's spiritual and political questions. "What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
