๐ท #AAPIMonth: Dr. Peter Tsai is a Taiwanese American material scientist who invented the N95 respirator in the 90s, which was initially intended for industrial use. However, it was soon discovered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the mask could also prevent the spread of airborne viruses. During the pandemic, the N95 respirator was crucial to protect against infection. Stories like Dr. Tsaiโs continue to motivate us to pursue a better tomorrow. #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth

๐ฃ Exciting news for Las Promesas de Laredo! Thanks to new funding, we'll be expanding our youth leadership development services to two additional ZIP codes in Laredo by August 2026! This allows us to serve 400+ additional youth, ages 6-17! ๐ We're looking for potential partner locations, like schools and community centers, to bring our programs directly to new areas in #Laredo.๐๏ธ Jessica Blanquez, a program coordinator, is enthusiastic about the news, saying, โWe are excited to start working with other zip codes and bring leadership capabilities to youth through partnerships and other organizations. We have high hopes and expectations that we will create several partnerships and create a greater group of youth to represent Laredo.โ ๐ #LaredoTX #LaredoCommunity

๐บ๐ธ Today, on #MemorialDay, we join our country in honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. ๐๏ธ We are proud that our #SWKeyFamilia is composed of many veterans, such as our Interim Board Chair Victor R. Garza, as well as staff with family members who have served our country. We also hold in our hearts the families of those who remain Missing in Action (MIA) and Prisoners of War (POW). Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

๐บ ๐ด #AAPIMonth: As Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month continues, we are excited to spotlight Haunani-Kay Trask was a passionate advocate for Hawaiian statehood, fighting for it a decade before Hawaii became a state. She continued to be a proponent for the preservation of Hawaiian culture. We look to the example of changemakers like her as we promote progress. #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth

๐ด May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month! Originally established in the late 1970s, the month brings attention to the lives and legacies of men and women from Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander backgrounds, spotlighting advancements made in science, medicine, literature, art, sports, politics, and much more. #AAPIMonth๐พ We pay tribute to historic figures including Japanese American, Fred T. Korematsu, who fought against Japanese internment camps by taking it to the U.S. Supreme Court. He once said, โAs long as my record stands in federal court, any American citizen can be held in prison or concentration camps without a trial or a hearing.โ ๐ฏ๐ต #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth

๐ธ #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth: This week, we would like our followers to consider mental health in youth. Even children may show early warning signs of mental health concerns. Half of all mental health disorders show first signs before a child turns 14, and three-quarters of mental health disorders begin before age 24. Sadly, only half of children with diagnosable mental health conditions receive treatment. ๐ By spotting and addressing these issues early on, we can provide vital support to children before they interfere with other developmental needs. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalHealthAwareness
