What is the rarest boss in Elden Ring? ›

The boss that has been defeated by the fewest players is Dragonlord Placidusax, a legendary enemy located in the Crumbling Farum Azula. As of 13 Dec 2022, the achievement players get for defeating this out-of-the-way optional boss is the rarest boss-battle achievement/trophy, across all platforms.

Crumbling Farum Azula is arguably the most difficult region in Elden Ring, with Maliketh capping off a grueling set of bosses that includes the Godskin Duo and Dragonlord Placidusax.

Elden Ring has 165 true bosses and 73 mini-bosses, totaling 238 bosses in the base game. Only 13 mandatory bosses are needed to beat the game, while the rest are optional.

Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

This is not only the scariest boss in “Elden Ring,” but also one of the scariest bosses in the entire Soulsborne series. Rykard's gray and scaly face is blood-chilling by itself. The fact that it's attached to a massive snake's body makes it a million times worse.

Updated June 14, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: To get to Dragonlord Placidusax, one of the hardest late-game boss fights in Elden Ring, players not only have to beat one of the other hardest bosses (the Fire Giant), but also have to find the hidden path to reach this Farum Azula secret boss.

The Ancestor Spirit boss is an easy fight to overcome, offering barely a challenge even to new players, but its beautiful design and eerie atmosphere make it a must for any playthrough of the game.

Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade)

This boss is not optional and must be defeated to progress the story.

In this form, Godfrey is weak to Lightning and Thrusting damage, but heavily resistant to Holy power, which isn't surprising considering he appears to be made out of it.

Rykard is an optional boss, and doesn't need to be defeated in order to advance in Elden Ring.

What level should I be to beat Elden Ring? ›

If you go higher, Elden Ring's matchmaking will struggle to find players who can summon you or that you can invade. My entire playthrough was done at Level 150, so if you're endgame level, you'll be fine. If you're using one of the best Elden Ring builds, you're likely already good to go.
